SHRIMPS FIRST CATWALK SHOW AW19

The Shrimps AW19 collection journeys into the world of Greek myths, stories that tell of the creation of the world and of the Gods and Goddesses that have continually inspired art, literature and culture, and modern life.

Goddesses grace the celestial backdrop painted by artist Ryan Driscoll, a contemporary artist fascinated in Greek mythology, depicting goddesses that have made up our world and represent strength, femininity and power, including Gaea, Goddess of Earth, Amphitrite, Goddess of the Sea, Athena, Goddess of Wisdom & Culture and Venus, Goddess of Love.

The story of myth walks through Driscoll’s doorway and onto the catwalk with stories told in the collection’s prints in both classical form as well as interpreted into modern and graphic jacquards. Ethereal Grecian style dresses and skirts feature alongside more modern separates, retelling the story of the goddess in its various evolving forms, always celebrating a feminine silhouette and feel.

A vibrant colour palette of bright orange, banana yellow, soft apricot, peacock blue and gold echo the colours of frescos telling stories of the Gods, and all combine and are reimagined to create a check print that features across the collection.

Shrimps’ now signature pearl bags and embellishment appear in this season’s updated shapes and colourways with added floral motifs, miniature treasure chests, embellished shells and knotted macramé. Pearl and Faux Fur headbands, diamante Greek wreath hair clips and earrings add a twinkling adornment to the Shrimps goddesses.
